big brows have always been in my repertoire. it all began when i started going to my mother’s “eyebrow lady” around 14 with a botched waxing.  who knew the wrath of a waxer could be so traumatizing?!?!  you would have thought i harmed a small puppy or tripped a blind kid with the scolding i received that fateful yet pivotal day in baltimore.  ever since i learned my lesson, no one comes near my brows unless they are the best of the best and their philosophy is ‘bigger is better’.   this season, many of the fashion houses I hold near and dear to my heart are sending their models down the runway with big and bold brows.  Chanel, Moschino, Etro and Narciso Rodriguez all got the big brow memo. how do you feel about big brows?

It’s been a long week and all i want to do is hang with some of my nearest and dearest girlfriends.  i consider my dear friends to be more than just friends.  it’s kind of like we are in a gang, except we don’t harm people… yet.  there is nothing like being with my people and feeling that invincible sensation only brought on when my sisters are near.  photos of fashionable friends are some of my favorite images, always bringing a smile to my face. the way true friends complement each other visually feels as perfect and warm as a big cozy sweater on a winter night.   i included some of my very own fashionable friends, who rarely make an appearance on secretly fancy however are the light of my crazy life.  this one’s for my ride or die ladies.

things i adore in personal style: refinement, swagger, a signature look, effortless appeal, Parisian chic. for all of my ‘favorite things’ and so much more, i turn to Emmanuelle Alt, French Vogue Editor. this brunette tall glass of water has got all the makings of a style icon rolled into one.  always appearing nothing short of truly authentic, she makes it look so easy.  her style has remained the same for years however she always manages to look fresh. with swagger for days, this cool cat has an undeniable confidence that oozes out of her oversized shirts and hides smirking  in her skinnies.  i am now coveting a sexy black heeled sandal or a simple black heel and will be channeling my best Emmanuelle.

a likely yet fresh marriage has yet again occurred as j.crew unveils their spring/summer collaboration with the king of palm beach chic footwear, stubbs & wooten.  the slipper trend is as blazing as ever, making this coupling of two fashion forward preppies right on time.  currently the collection is available only to women. giddy up ladies!

out of frustration during my travels, specifically pertaining to my man’s ipad selection of half completed seasons of bloody, naked or drugged out shows, i treated myself to an ipad mini.  my little friend has come in handy on my last trip. completing 4 episodes of downton abbey made it crystal clear that i need my own little travel buddy.  the show is super compelling both historically and visually, with delightful architecture, gardens and most of all fashions.  it is a secretly fancy must see for certain.  i’m so thankful for my little friend, ipad mini and all the wonder it can share with me!
